BOP II Topic of the Week:
Is there a such thing as an ethical hacker? I came across this article and was surprised to see a beginning hacking course is being offered as a gateway into the cybersecurity field. It makes me wonder - are we normalizing hacking or reframing it a tool for defense? Can hacking be ethical if used to expose vulnerabilities before bad actors do? Is this a step towards resilience or a slippery slope? What do you think?

I agree with Jim_S61 It's necessary in some circumstances. There is actually a good market for ethical hackers to test companies internet security, identifying vulnerabilities before Chinese or Korean hackers have their way. I don't think it's a slippery slope, but rather just a fact of life in today's networked world. As for calling them something else, ...sure...why not..!
