BOP II Topic of the Week: Have you seen the Irish ad about internet safety? In the ad, a child walks through a shopping mall with her parents. Strangers approach her one after another, reciting personal details they have learned from her parents' social media posts. They mention her birthday, favorite foods, and even private family moments. It is cut like a dystopian horror short film to make us feel how unsettling it is when a child's life is exposed online without their consent. Brilliant or terrifying? Maybe both?

I agree with the essence of both comments. Way too much information and photos are posted in social media. I have a friend who refused to allow any pictures of her two children be posted by anyone, especially some siblings who were social media crazy. I thought it was a little extreme at the time (maybe 10 years ago), but in retrospect, she was wise. Our privacy is under attack every single day, by crooks, companies, and now even our government. The ad in question is a great example of how things should NOT be.
